Health and Safety

Parents are asked to take particular care when completing the registration form. Please make sure you list any illnesses your child has, e.g. asthma, epilepsy, food allergies (nuts, dairy products, food colourings), physical difficulty (sight, hearing, or movement).If your child has asthma, please bring a spare named inhaler to leave at school with clear written instructions regarding usage and dose. An Asthma Card is also available from the school office and should be completed. Staff may only administer medication which is prescribed by a doctor and is labelled clearly with the child’s name, dosage and the frequency (time) of each dose.


Entrance to the nursery is through the side entrance. A member of staff will be will be on duty at the gate to register the children as they arrive or leave. If you arrive at the school when the staff are not on duty, please ring on the office door bell. For your own child’s safety, the staff have strict instructions not to let any child leave the school other than with authorised adults. If you or the person you have authorised to collect your child is not available and you intend to send somebody else, please advise staff in writing. If an emergency occurs during the day and your arrangements have to be changed, please phone the nursery informing us of the name of the person who will be collecting your child. 


Fire Drills

The school is inspected by the Fire Department and all equipment checked. Fire drills are carried out at regular intervals. 


Accidents 

If a child has an accident at school e.g. bumped head, grazed knee, the incident will be written into an accident book which you will be shown and asked to sign when you collect your child. In the unlikely event of a more serious accident or your child being taken ill at school, the school will contact you immediately. When filling in the registration form, please make sure you list all your telephone numbers at home, at work and mobile telephone number if applicable, and also give the numbers of people who are authorised to collect your child, if you cannot be contacted.
